I'm in the Northeast and we've had ALOT of snow/ice mix this season. I had 6" of powder on top of about 1" of ice on top of about 8" of mixed snow on the roof of my garage. It's an interior corner so if I don't clear it, I get massive Ice Damming.

The rake did it's job fairly well and for the most part, I'm happy I got something as quickly as I did and that it helped get the job done since we're expecting another storm this week.

The downside.........
1) With three poles on it ( ~12'-15' long ) it does sway and bend a lot. Not sure they can do much about that and still keep the whole thing lite.
2) The connection to the blade needs to be redesigned. What they did was cut a slot in the pole that fits around the top edge of the blade. I tightened it down enough but not too much because it would crush the pole flat. After clearing all the snow/ice off the roof, I noticed that from pulling on it to get the snow down, it is starting to tear the aluminum pole where that slot is that connects to the blade. I'm likely going to get some galvanized pipe and create a new short section to replace the aluminum one with the slot. I'll likely crush the head of it flat then bolt it flat to the blade. I'll try to take some pictures of the before and after so you can see exactly what it looks like.

All in all.... it did the job and should help prevent ice damming on this storm but.... unless I modify the connection point, it won't last.

The Snow Joe RJ201M went together easily, and worked great to lighten the snow load on several of my roof surfaces. I was surprised at how nicely it would handle from the ground. It took me only a few minutes to get the knack of dropping the rake over the snow area to be pulled down, but once that was learned, the work went well. This has been the snowiest winter...ever... in Connecticut, and I'm glad I now have a snow roof rake to deal with future snow "black swan" events!

With 20 ft of handle attached, one needs pretty good upper body strength and coordination to manuver and work it. I almost called my son-in-law to finish the job!

My only small complaint concerns the application of the rubber protective edge for the rake. I could not get it to go on, and postponed the operation for a warmer season. Perhaps the rubber cover should be FACTORY INSTALLED?

It came a little late because of the snow UPS couldn't get in but once I received it worked great to clean the snow around my heater vents. Great item.
